Goodbye and THANK YOU to Charles Oppenheim, Senior Consultant, Naomi Korn Associates
After over 17 years of working with Naomi Korn, including as a Senior Consultant for Naomi Korn Associates, Charles Oppenheim is retiring from consultancy work.
Charles has been one of the public sector’s leading specialists in information compliance law, leading the sector on issues such as the use of Creative Commons licences, Web 2.0, GDPR, OER, derived data, and IP Policy formation.
Until 2009, Charles was Professor of Information Science and Head of the Department of Information Science at Loughborough University. He was a Visiting Professor at Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen. He also worked for many years in the electronic publishing industry.
Charles has been involved in, given talks on, and published on Intellectual Property Rights and other legal issues relevant to library and information work and to academic research. He has published well over 500 journal articles, conference papers, reports and books, including co-authoring “Information Law: Compliance” together with Naomi Korn and Adrienne Muir, which was published by Facet Publishing in 2020.
Naomi Korn said: “Charles has been my mentor over the years. I have loved working with him and benefitting from his amazing knowledge and expertise. I will miss him very much, but I’m really pleased that his legacy continues and he can now enjoy the retirement he truly deserves.”
