Naomi Korn Associates was commissioned to survey the rights issues across 8 different archives with varying quantities of material. The aim was to provide Jisc with an overview of the number of items that required rights clearance to help inform subsequent phases of rights clearances and allow Jisc to estimate the likely cost of any clearance activities.

The publications surveyed included multiple layers of rights, including text, graphics, images and photos, as well as trade marks. Naomi Korn Associates worked closely and collaboratively with the archive staff to capture all the relevant information about the material to produce an assessment of the rights issues associated with the material in each archive, an indication of the steps to be taken and recommendations for any subsequent rights clearance strategies.
