Highgate Literary and Scientific Institute

Highgate Literary and Scientific Institute

Naomi has come to the Highgate Literary and Scientific Institution twice, first to make us aware of copyright law and last night about the GDPR. Both are large complex subjects with aspects laypeople find difficult to grasp. Naomi understands this and successfully conveys difficult information in a clear and concise way. She is also an entertaining speaker which helps us to stay focussed and everyone enjoys the evening. In addition, the relaxed environment Naomi creates means people are comfortable in asking questions. The feedback I’ve had from both talks is all positive and I know everyone attending, including myself, feel better informed and that knotty issues have been clarified resulting in better understanding.  As a bonus all enjoyed the talk.

Museum Development Yorkshire

Museum Development Yorkshire

Museum Development Yorkshire has been pleased to work with Naomi Korn over a number of years. Our project in 2010-11 focussed on improving museum approaches to the management of cultural assets in museums and specifically Intellectual Property Rights (IPR).  The work involved pragmatic and engaging workshops and has left a solid legacy in a corpus of Advice Sheets. These are valued across the Yorkshire museum sector and by our museum development colleagues across the country as well as the museums which we support. Working with Naomi has ensured that these resources are current and developed to meet our changing museum client needs. More recently our focus has been effective documentation and systems to prepare for GDPR.

Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust

Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust

Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust (JDHT) has approximately 250 films featuring jaguar cars deposited with it which were made between 1947/48 - 1990. The films are eclectic, vary in length and quality and contain a mixture of content such as car footage, archival stills and photos, well known people, branding and members of the public. Naomi Korn Associates was commissioned to research and evaluate the rights issues and subsequently clear rights for all the films, enabling JDHT to use the footage for online use and licensing purposes.

It has been a pleasure working with Naomi Korn Associates on the copyright clearance of our archive films holdings. Naomi's friendly, professional, and knowledgeable team took great pains to understand the Trust, the material, and the final aims of the project. Efficient, and always on hand to help, or advise, NKA consistently involved the Trust in the decision-making process, allowing us to retain control of the project, whilst knowing that the necessary work was being done, and being done well.

Art UK

Art UK

Art UK is a registered charity whose aim is to connect the public with images of artworks held in public organisations. Naomi Korn Associates has been working with Art UK for some years in developing suitable internal mechanisms to research, clear and manage the rights in hundreds of thousands of images of artworks, including paintings, works on paper and sculptures. Other initiatives have included support to provide a front-end Permissions Portal for participating collections and artwork rights holders to safely assign image permissions and attach specific Creative Commons licence to their images. Thus, creating a self-serve facility for collections and artwork rights holders, substantiating their own rights management infrastructure. Specific mentoring support provided by Naomi Korn to Art UK’s Head of Copyright and Licensing has helped the organisation develop more complex projects and build internal capacity.

Henry Moore Foundation

Henry Moore Foundation

The Henry Moore Foundation (HMF) was founded by the artist and his family in 1977 to encourage public appreciation of the visual arts. As part of their on-going development work, they required copyright, contract and data protection support relating to current activities and future plans, including the development of their new website. Naomi Korn Associates visited HMF to carry out a Health check, and provided practical integrated recommendations presented in a short follow up report to support the legal compliance obligations of HMF and support its future sustainability.
