Emily is a researcher in human-centred AI, working on the ethical and responsible use of AI systems and tools. She holds a PhD in Computing Science and Psychology from the University of Glasgow, where she studied how listeners form impressions of synthetic voices, and later worked on spatialised 3D audio for virtual and augmented reality on the Horizon-EU SONICOM project. She currently works on PHAWM, a Responsible AI UK project developing tools and methodologies that enable people without technical AI expertise to audit predictive and generative AI. She has led participatory audits of AI tools across UK public service organisations and is the lead research associate on the project’s cultural heritage strand, whose project partners include the National Library of Scotland, National Museums Scotland and the Museum Data Service. At Naomi Korn Associates Emily provides expertise in AI, ethics and rights.
