Art UK is a registered charity whose aim is to connect the public with images of artworks held in public collections. Since its foundation in 2003, Naomi Korn Associates has supported Art UK to develop internal mechanisms to research, clear and manage the rights in hundreds of thousands of images of artworks, including paintings, works on paper and sculptures.
The support provided by Naomi Korn Associates to Art UK has also included advice about the development of a front-end Permissions Portal for their website holding public and private collections’ rights holders. This means that Art UK can safely assign image permissions and attach specific Creative Commons Licences to their images. By creating a self-serve facility for collections and artwork rights holders, Art UK’s own rights management infrastructure is substantiated.
Naomi Korn Associates has also delivered bespoke mentoring support to Art UK’s Head of Copyright and Licensing. This has helped the organisation develop more complex projects and build internal capacity.
