Matthew Lambert is an Intellectual Property expert specialising in copyright. He is the Head of Copyright, Policy & Assurance at The British Library where he is responsible for copyright strategy, policy, and risk management, as well as heading up the Copyright Team. He is the co-chair of the Libraries and Archives Copyright Alliance (LACA), the former chair of the CENL Copyright Network Group, and sits on both the IFLA Copyright and Other Legal Matters advisory group and the Learning on Screen Copyright advisory panel. Following the UK Intellectual Property Office’s recent AI consultation he also sat on the IPO’s Copyright & AI working group. In addition to copyright, Matthew has a good working knowledge of data protection and sensitivity issues, and is a qualified Freedom of Information (FOI & EIR) practitioner. Prior to joining the Library he spent 10 years working in rights and contract roles in the Publishing industry. At Naomi Korn Associates, Matthew specialises in IP policy development, risk assessment, best practice, due diligence and all aspects of cultural heritage and copyright for librarians and information professionals.
